13 Weeks and counting...

Well, we are now at 13 1/2 weeks along.  My belly is starting to poke out a bit.  The funny thing is people call it a "baby bump", but the bump you are seeing is NOT the baby!  The baby is actually still very low and my uterus is just starting to appear above my pelvic bone.  The "bump" you are seeing is most likely just bloating and/or my guts (for lack of a better term) being pushed up by my growing baby and uterus. This may be more information than you wanted to know, but I just thought it was interesting. The baby, according to Babycenter.com is now the size of a medium SHRIMP! Poor kid, it's already being called a shrimp! :o(  The idea behind calling my child a "shrimp" is that the baby is now 3 inches long! Can't believe he/she is growing so fast!

I am feeling pretty good!  I THINK...I'm starting to come out of the exhaustion phase.  But, I am still tired and the other morning I woke up and was going to make myself some Cream of Wheat and as I was standing there I began to feel very weak and then I got dizzy to the point that I felt I was going to pass out!  So, I quickly sat down in front of the stove and put my head between my knees. The dizziness/faintness passed fairly quickly, but I still felt weak for a while after that.

One of the other exciting things is that thanks to the pre-natal vitamins, my nails are the nicest and the longest they have ever been!  I have never been able to grow out my nails because they are so brittle and thin.  It's very exciting for me! :)

One of the not-so-nice things that I have been experiencing for the past 8 or so weeks is my skin! I feel like I'm a teenager again...I have the worst breakouts and they don't just last for a week and then disappear, they are continual and some will come and go and others will appear and so on and so forth!!  Sigh...I'm 27 years old for heaven's sake! My skin has been extremely oily!!  Not much I can do about it, I don't think, as I am limited on the products that I can use while pregnant. So, I just keep washing and hoping they will eventually go away!  If anyone has any tips on this little dilemma, I would greatly appreciate it! :)

We have our next appointment this coming Monday! We most likely will get to hear the heartbeat this time and then at the next appointment we will hopefully find out the gender of the baby!!! :)  I can't wait to find out and get to plan specifically for the little boy or girl! At this point I haven't bought much of anything, but once we find out....LET THE SHOPPING BEGIN! :) (don't tell Matt!...Just kidding!)

Well, until next weekend...Love you all!

  3. So exciting! Glad your little shrimp is doing well! And that you're feeling good :) Love the nails! Mine didn't grow much during the pregnancy but now they are;) It's fun, and definitely better than getting them done. Love to see the belly pics! AND I was gonna tell you that posting each week about the pregnancy kinda serves as a journal for the shrimp - if you haven't already thought about that...I was trying to start a journal for Emma and it was nice to be able to go back to the blog the few times that I did post about it and be able to include what exactly I was feeling/thinking/going through... YAY can't wait to know what you're having so we can start shopping too!!
