So, I have a couple minutes and just wanted to post some encouragement on marriage. Our church is doing a series called the "Sacred Vow". It is only the second week into it, but I encourage you to listen to the podcast or watch the video. Yesterday was perfect for where Matt and I were at...we had just been working through a little spat the few days prior to this sermon and this just helped us to resolve the last bit of the issue. It was a good reminder, that without Christ's help, we fall into complete selfishness when it comes to marriage...we are quick to think about what we want, need, or desire and forget the needs of our spouses. About a month ago Matt and I had talked through some of the complacency/laziness that had wedged it's way into our marriage. We realized we were both falling into just coming home and checking out/vegging out, instead of really seeking to love and support the other and build into our marriage, son, and home. So we talked about and wrote down 5 ways that we could really help fill the others "love tank" and committed to giving 100% when we come home from work, instead of checking out. It has really made a huge difference! We are still (and will forever be) a work in progress. But GOD....He is good and patient and doesn't give up on us and helps us to learn how to LOVE one another.
As I've been processing this stuff...God impressed upon my heart to be praying for each of our siblings and parents' marriages. I love you all and will be praying for you! The devil wants to kill and destroy this sacred vow and speak lies into this beautiful union God designed! My prayer is that each of us would STAND up and FIGHT the enemy and his schemes! God has already won the battle - may we claim (DAILY) the victory that has already been won!
I just wanted to say thank you for this post! For sharing the video link (and about it) - which I have shared with several others ;0. I got a chance to watch all the videos a couple of weeks back, and as you know we'd (I'd) been going through some 'stuff' for several months and had been trying to work out a few things...It was great to hear. I appreciate the prayers, dear sister WE NEED! we pray for you guys too! Esp in the middle of the night when this crackhead cannot sleep for some reason. I love to start praying for you guys as you're starting your day. Anyhow...Just wanted to say THANKS! hugs and kisses to you all!
